KATRA, Jan 16: Wrestler Gurpreet of Zirakpur (Chandigarh) lifted 9th Annual Sool-Pamote Dangal title by defeating Wrestler Babba of Kot Bhawal (Jammu), Akhara Domana in the first malli main bout that lasted for 26 minutes at village Pamote Nalla in Reasi.
Wrestler Gurpreet was adjudged as the best Wrestler of the dangal which was organized by Sool-Pamote Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
The title winner Wrestler Gurpreet was cash awarded with Rs 18,000 by Ex Minister Jugal Kishore Sharma in presence of Wrestling promoter Shiv Kumar Sharma, Chairman of Dangal Committee Rattan Lal Sharma and Raj Kumar (Baboo).
Ex Minister and Senior Congress Leader Jugal Kishore Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runners-up Wrestlers. President Senior Citizens Welfare Forum Katra, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function and Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) was the guest of honour.
Prominent persons present on the occasion included Ex. Sarpanch Rattan Singh, Rattan Singh, Baldev Singh, Surinder Bhagat and Incharge Police Chowki Muhammed Irfan.
In all, 49 bouts were played in the one day long Dangal.
The second main bout was won by Ajay Sharma, he was cash awarded with Rs 11,000 while 3rd main bout was won by Muneer Khan of Nagrota.
The event was organized under the supervision of organizing committee including Rattan Lal Sharma (Chairman), Raj Kumar (Baboo), Joginder Lal, Numberdar Kartar Singh, Numberdar Kuldeep Kumar, Panch Des Raj, Panch Rakesh Kumar and Mengi.
