Governor tees off Army Commander’s Invitational Golf Cup C’ship

UDHAMPUR, Mar 30: The Annual Northern Army Commander’s Invitational Golf Cup was played at the Dhruva Environmental Park and Training Area (DEPTA) here today.
Governor, NN Vohra inaugurated the tournament by ‘Teeing-Off’ alongwith Lieutenant General Sanjiv Chachra, GOC-in-C Northern Command.
The rolling trophy is presently held with the Army team which was the winners of the Army Commanders Cup in 2013.
Eighteen ‘four balls’, each comprising of a combined team of Kashmir Golf Club, Srinagar-J&K Golf Association played versus the Army and Air Force team. The event was played as Stableford over eighteen holes in accordance with the rules of  “The Royal and Ancient Golf Course of St Andrews” and local rules of Dhruva Golf Course, Udhampur.
Best twenty cards per team were considered to decide the winners.
Lieutenant General Sanjiv Chachra, GOC-in-C Northern Command and Anshul Chachra, Regional President, Central Welfare Organization  distributed the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the various categories from Best Gross Score, Maximum Number of Birdies, Longest Drive, Closet-To-Pin. A special ‘putting’ event was also conducted for the ladies.
The event was attended by a host of Defence and civil dignitaries.
