JAMMU, Sept 8: Inter-Collegiate Championships in the disciplines of Fencing and Football, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education were played at different venues of the University of Jammu.
In Inter-Collegiate Fencing Championship for women, Rupali Sharma of MIET and Akansha Sabharwal of GCW Parade clinched gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Ashnita Sharma of GCW Parade and Nishla of PG Department, JU in Women Epee Individual event.
In Women Sabre individual event, Shreya Sudan of GCW Parade and Rupali Sharma of MIET bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while Surbhi Anthal of PG Department JU and Mahnaz Akhtar of GCW Gandhi Nagar shared bronze medal.
In Women Sabre Individual event, Mokshi Sharma of GCW Parade and Surbhi Anthal of PG Department JU secured gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Nishla of PG Department JU and Mahnaz Akhtar of GCW Gandhi Nagar.
The matches were officiated by Chotu Lal Sharma, Ujjwal Gupta, Rachna Jamwal, Bisham Singh, Ajay Khartol and PD Singh.
On the valedictory function, Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director Sports, JU was the chief guest, who awarded the medals and trophies to the players of winning teams in both men and women categories in the presence of Romesh Sharma, Suman Sharma, Dr Brij Baloria, Jai Bharat, Ravish Vaid, Raj Kumar Bakshi and Vikas Karlopia.
Meanwhile, SPMR College of Commerce, ASCOMS, MBS College and PG Arts, JU smashed rivals in their respective matches and entered into the next stage of the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Football Championship for men.
In the first match, SPMR College of Commerce defeated GDC Paloura by one goal to zero. From SPMR College of Commerce side, Pankaj netted the goal in 33rd minute.
In the second match, ASCOMS crushed MAM College by 4-3 in tie breakers. From ASCOMS side, Varun Wamiq, Shabir and Ahmed scored the goals, while from MAM College side, Aqil Malik, Aqil Rasool and Rahul Sharma scored the goals.
MBS College registered win over YCET in the third match by 2-0 goals. From MBS College side, Vivasvan Sawhney scored the goal in 45th minute and the second goal was netted by Jatinpal Singh in 56th minute.
In the fourth match, PG Arts crushed MIET College by straight eight goals to zero. From PG Arts side, Dharampal, Aayush, Stanzin, Rehul Sharma and Gagandeep netted the goals.
The matches were officiated by Vijay Kumar, Dheeraj Kumar and Gagan Kumar.
The Championships were organized under the overall supervision of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
