JAMMU, Aug 5: The NSS Unit of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar Jammu organised One-Day Certificate Training Programme on Basic First Aid Training and Workshop in collaboration with Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar here today.
The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp by Dr Amandeep Kour, Medical Director and Administrator Amandeep Hospital Amritsar, Dr Kiran Bakshi Principal of the College and Bhumesh Sharma (KAS).
In her welcome address, Principal of the College Dr Kiran Bakshi asserted that for the holistic growth of students this kind of event heals the wounds of suffering people at large and will inculcate a social binding in them, thereby attaining humanitarian touch.
Team of Doctors led by Dr Amandeep Kour gave a demonstration of the First Aid Training and motivated the students to come forward for the needy accidental victims and reduce the intensity of pain and agony by giving them first aid. Bhumesh Sharma also gave a presentation on the first aid for the road accident victims.
About 600 students attended the workshop.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Manish Manocha, Group Head (J&K) Amandeep Hospital, Dr Mandeep Singh, Harsimran Kour, Dr Arundhati Singh and Dr Akshra Gupta.
The NSS Unit of College comprising of Dr Ashaq Malik, Prof Shrutika Rajput and Dr Shiveta Gandotra, who presented vote of thanks.
The programme was conducted by Sonika Sharma and Anshika Sasan.
