JAMMU, May 1: The four fencers from J&K UT namely Vishal Thapar, Javed Ahmed Choudhary, Mayank Sharma and Shreya Gupta have created history by qualifying for the first time in the Senior World cup.
These fencers are going to participate in the upcoming Senior Fencing Sabre World Cup. The Men’s World Cup is scheduled to be held at Spain from May 6 to 8, while Shreya Gupta is the lone women qualifier who will participate in the Women World Cup, being held at Tunisia, North Africa from May 6 to 8.
They have qualified for these World Cup tournaments on the basis of their ranking and splendid performance in 32nd Senior National Championships held at Amritsar from March 13 to 16.
The president of J&K Amateur Fencing Association M J Sharma appreciated the hard work and stupendous efforts of the fencers for qualifying for this prestigious tournament and wished them good luck.
