Economics, Geography Deptts win Carrom titles; facing each other in Badminton (W) finals

JAMMU, Mar 16: The final match of ongoing Inter-Department Volleyball (Men) 2015-16 was played between Physical Education Department and MCA Department in which former outplayed latter by (3-0) sets with set scores (25-22, 25-21, 25-20) and lifted the title trophy.
Earlier, the first semifinal Physical Education Department drubbed Environment Science Department (2-0) by (25-10, 25-09), while in the 2nd semifinal MCA Department outplayed Geography Department (2-1) by (25-21, 18-25 and 25-23).
Kuldip Magotra was the chief guest on the occasion, whileProf Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education presided over the function.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Amit Sharma, Romesh Sharma and Dr Brij Baloria.
The matches were officiated by Amit Sharma, Vikas Karlopia, Manu Singh Pawar and Priya Choudhary.
Meanwhile, in Inter-Department Badminton Tourn-ament (Women), Geography Department willl meet Economic Department in the final.
Earlier, in the 1st semifinal, Economics Department beat Commerce Department by 2-0. In singles, Prabhjyot Kour defeated Diksha Gupta by 21-02, while in doubles Prabhjyot Kour and Sughandhi outplayed Diksha and Shivangi by 21-03.
In 2nd semifinal, Geogrpahy Department trounced The Law School by 2-1. In singles Sagufta lost to Anita Pandita by 6-21, while in doubles Sagufta and Sayeeda beat Anita and Neeraj by 25-23. In singles, Sayeeda  beat Supriya by 21- 04.
In Men’s section quarterfinals, Geography Department prevailed over Commerce Department by 2- 0. In singles, Shagun beat Mahmood by 21-14, while in doubles, Shagun and Anirudh toppled Varinder and Satish by 21-03.
In another quarterfinal match, Law School beat Physical & Electronics by 2- 0. In singles,  Chander Dev Singh got better of Mahmood by 21-14, while in doubles,Chander Dev and Akeel Shah outplayed Jangbhadur and Jagandeep Singh 21 – 07, 21 – 03.
In the 3rd quarterfinal, Physical Education beat Zoology Department by 2- 1, while in 4th quarterfinal, Economics Department outplayed Bio-Technology by 2-1
In Carrom (Women), Geography Department defeated Psychology Department by 2- 0 in the first semifinal, while in the 2nd semifinal, EVS Department thrashed Zoology Department by 2-0.
In the final, Geography Department beat EVS Department by 2-1, while in Carrom (Men) final, Economics Department beat Chemistry by 2-1.
