JAMMU, May 6: The Department of Youth Services & Sports Zone Chenani organized Zonal Level Inter-School Competitions in Kabaddi, Badminton, Chess and Cricket for U-14 and U-17 boys under the esteemed patronage of worthy Director Youth Services & Sports Rajinder Singh Tara, with guidance from District Youth Services & Sports Officer Udhampur, Romesh Chander Mishra and overall supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer Chenani, Jyoti Rani.
The opening ceremony was graced by Principal of Govt. HSS Chenani, Anchal Singh, who interacted with participants. ZPEO Jyoti Rani presented a brief report and expressed gratitude to all involved, especially the PEM, PET, and REK staff for their contributions.
A total of 510 students from 31 Government and private schools participated in the competitions with immense enthusiasm. In Kabaddi U-17, National Public HS Chenani defeated Govt. HS Bashat; in U-14, Govt. HS Nagulta won and HS Bashat stood runner-up. In Chess U-17, Vikas Bhardwaj (GHS Sirah) was winner and Martand Dev Singh Jamwal (HSS Chenani) runner-up; in U-14, Akash Kumar (HSS Sewna) defeated Prikshit Kumar (MS Koyee). In Badminton U-17, HSS Chenani won and Brooklyn Mission School stood runner-up; in U-14, MS Noti defeated MS Jig. Cricket trials were also held, and a team was selected for district-level competition.
