UDHAMPUR, June 1: District Level Inter Zonal Athletic Meet for under-14 and under-17 boys commenced at Sports Stadium here.
Rakesh Singh Jamwal Joint Director Planning Udhampur was the chief guest, who inaugurated the meet.
Around 110 boys drawn from 10 zones of the district participated in Athletic Meet.
In U-14 (100 meters), Ayush, Suresh Kumar and Nikshit emerged winners, whereas in 200 meters Toyiab Malik, Liaqat Ali and Ajay Kumar claimed top three ranks. In 400 meters, Vipin Singh, Janayat Ali and Abdul Quoom emerged winners and in 600 meters, Farman Ali, Som Raj and Gorab Singh emerged winners.
In U-14 (High Jump), Rajinder Singh and Ayush claimed first and second positions respectively, whereas in Discus Throw, Suresh Kumar, Nikhil Sharma (Ramnagar) and Nikhil Sharma (Udhampur) emerged winners.
In U-14 (Shot-Put), Rajinder Singh, Suresh Kumar and Vipin Singh emerged winners, whereas in Long Jump, Parshotam and Babloo claimed first and second positions respectively.
In U-17 (100 meters), Balwinder Singh, Shamsher Singh and Avinash emerged winners, whereas in 200 meters, Shamsher Singh, Rakesh Singh and Romit Sharma claimed top three ranks. In 400 meters, Sahil Singh, Mohammad Yaqoob and Gulam Ali emerged winners, whereas in 800 meters, Altaf Hussain, Lal Deen and Chotu Ram claimed top three positions. In 1500 meters, Arfan Ahmed, Magar Singh and Pawan Kumar emerged winners.
In U-17 (High Jump), Mohammad Rafiq and Saleem Mohammad claimed first and second positions respectively, whereas in Discuss Throw, Manoj Kumar, Sulinder Singh and Bhavuk Sharma emerged winners.
In U-17 (Javlian), Balbir Kumar, Manoj Kumar and Ajay Kumar claimed top three ranks, whereas in Shot-Put, Rominder Singh and Romit Sharma bagged first and second positions respectively. In Long Jump, Anil Sharma and Raghav Mehra claimed first and second positions respectively.
The officials were Ravi Singh, Kuldeep Kumar, Raj Kumar Gupta, Rakesh Modi, Raj Kumar, Romesh Chander, Raman Kumar, Bandana Sharma, Manik Nargotra and Vikrant Balgotra.
Among others present were Ram Lal Badyal, Pawan Kumar, Santosh Kumari, Satish Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Poonam Sharma, Anita Goswami, Jaswinder Singh, Parminder Manhas, Ajit Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Swarndeep Singh Tara, Ajay Sharma, Som Dev Khajuria, Des Raj Sharma, Parshotam Kumar and Karun Magotra.
The tournament is being organized under the patronage of Jahangir Mir, Director, Youth Services and Sports and chairmanship of Sunil Singh Sambyal, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Udhampur.
