JAMMU, Apr 17: District Level Inter School Tournaments of District Jammu in the disciplines of Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Speedball, Rifle Shooting and Weightlifting Under-14 and Under-17 years got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
In all, 1500 boys drawn from 14 Zones of Jammu District are taking part in the Tournaments to vie for the top honours.
Earlier, the Tournaments were declared open by Chanchal Kour, District Youth Services amd Sports Officer Jammu.
In Under-17 boys Carrom (Singles) final, Raman Kumar of GGHS Sohanjana beat Ansh Jamwal of Oriental Academy, while in 1st semifinal, Raman Kumar beat Harish Digra of GHS Raipur Satwari and
In 2nd semifinal, Ansh Jamwal of Oriental Academy defeated Jatinder Pal Singh of New National HSS.
In Under-14 Boys Carrom (Singles) final, Shivam Singh of GGHS Simbal Camp beat Vansh of St Xavier to lift the title. In 1st semifinal, Vansh of St Xavier outplayed Suraj of GMS Kangrail and in 2nd semifinal, Shivam Singh of GGHS Simbal Camp drubbed Sanju of GMS Deeli.
In Speedball Under-14 Boys (Relay), the 1st place was bagged by DPS Jammu and Jammu Sanskriti School bagged the 2nd place, while in Doubles, SP Tara Puri won 1st place and the 2nd place went to May Fair School and in Mix doubles, the 1st place was clinched by May Fair School, while DPS Jammu claimed 2nd position.
In Speedball Under-17 Boys (Relay), DCM Public School won 1st place and St Xavier claimed 2ndspot.
In Weightlifting, 50 Kg- 1st Murad Ali of GBHS Simbal Camp; 62 Kg- 1st Nirbhay Pratap of Vimal Public School, 2nd Rishi Khajuria of Knit Green and 3rd Mohd Owais of Doon International; 69 Kg-1st Manpreet Singh of Wazir Janki Nath, 2nd-Manav Sharma of Knit Green and 3rd-Hardik Chopra of Doon International; 77 Kg-1st Rohit Kumar of Knit Green; 85 Kg-1st Abdhul Malik of MIER.
In Table Tennis Under-14 Boys, Jodhmal Public School beat Heritage Public School by 3-0, GD Goenka drubbed KC Public School by 3-0,DPS Jammu outplayed Crescent Public School by 3-0, KC International trounced MHAC Nagbani by 3-0, MIER lost t rival by 3-0 and GD Goenka got the better of KC Gurkul by 3-0.
In Badminton Under-17 Boys, Model Academy beat Tiny Tot by 2-0 Sets, APS Kallu Chak prevailed over DBN Mubarak Mandi by 2-0 Sets, APS Domana outclassed New Oriental Academy by 2-0 Sets, KC International beat GD Goenka by 2-1 Sets, Divyan Public School lost to rival by 2-1 Sets, BSF Paloura beat Doon International by 2-0 Sets and SOS International trounced DBN by 2-0 Sets.
In Badminton Under-14 Boys, DPS beat Tiny Tots by 2-0 Sets, MIER drubbed APS Ratnu Chak by 2-0 Sets, Maha Reshi Vidya Mandir outplayed BSF Paloura by 2-0 Sets, APS Kaluchak defeated SOS by 2-0 Sets and St. Xavier beat Knit by 2-0 Sets.
