JAMMU, Dec 18: Director Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed reviewed the arrangements for the 63rd National School Games in the discipline of Wushu Under-19 and Under-17 boys and girls while chairing a meeting of the officers and officials of the Department in presence of coaches and managers of various contingents drawn from across the country. The meeting was held at Youth Hostel Nagrota.
He was informed by the conveners of various committees that all necessary arrangements have been made for smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director said that after hosting a mega football event, wherein in record number of 33 teams participated, it will be another big event in the medal winning sports discipline, which has brought name and fame not only to the State but the country as well.
He said that last year, Jammu and Kashmir created history in winning medals in the National School Games organized under the banner of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and attributed the success of the State teams/players to the commitment of the Government in promoting sports and games in the state.
He asked the conveners of important committees like boarding and lodging, transportation, technical and medical committee to ensure safe and comfortable stay of the visiting contingents, besides ensuring smooth conduct of the matches.
The meeting among others was attended by Joint Directors of twin divisions, besides District Officers, who are also the conveners of various committees.
