JAMMU, Oct 29: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Dilbag Singh inaugurated the 10th ESI Corporation North Zone Sports Meet in an impressive and well attended function, here today.
Singh, who was chief guest on the occasion, was accompanied by the dignitaries including Rattan TS Reen, Member Regional Board, Vinod Gupta, Administrative Medical Officer, ESI Scheme, Balbir Gupta, Association of Industries, Gangyal, Virender Jain, general secretary, Association of Industries, Gangyal and TTM Tharkan, Joint Director, Head Quarters Office, ESI Corporation, New Delhi.
The teams drawn from the States and Cities of Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Ludhiana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand are participating in this 5-day event, which included the sports disciplines of cricket, volleyball, football, chess, carrom, badminton and table tennis.
Meanwhile, in volleyball, RO Punjab trounced SRO Jallandhar, Head Quarters Office drubbed D(M)D and SRO Ludhiana got better of Delhi.
D(M)D outplayed Head Quarters Office, while HP prevailed upon SRO Ludhiana and RO Faridabad thrashed Delhi in cricket.
In table tennis team championship, D(M)D trounced RO Punjab, Headquarters Office outclassed RO J&K, RO Delhi got better of RO Faridabad, D(M)D defeated RO Faridabad, RO Uttrakhand prevailed upon Headquarter Office, D(M)D drubbed RO HP, RO Delhi got better of RO Punjab and SRO Ludhiana thrashed RO J&K.
In badminton women team championship, RO HP trounced RO Haryana and D(MD) Delhi prevailed upon RO Delhi, while in badminton men team championship, RO Delhi trounced Headquarters Office, RO Punjab got better of RO HP, SRO Jallandhar defeated RO Uttrakhand, D(M)D beat SRO Ludhiana and RO Delhi prevailed upon RO Faridabad.
In football, Headquarters Office drubbed SRO Ludhiana, D(M)D outplayed RO Haryana, while J&K got bye.
In men chess, Headquarters Office drubbed RO J&K, RO HP got better of SRO Ludhiana, RO Faridabad prevailed upon RO Uttrakhand and D(M)D trounced SRO Jallandhar.
