SRINAGAR, Oct 11: Former international cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Yousuf Pathan, who are in Srinagar for the final seven matches of the Legends League, are enjoying the region’s scenic landscapes and pleasant weather.
Dhawan enjoyed a picturesque Shikara ride on the famous Dal Lake, while Yusuf Pathan took photos among the apple-laden trees in South Kashmir, both cricketers captivated by the stunning surroundings.
Dhawan praised the valley’s beauty, saying, “Kashmir holds a special place in my heart due to its breathtaking nature. When I ventured out yesterday, the warmth of the people was overwhelming.”
He also lauded the local vendors selling a variety of items, including jewelry and fruits, from their Shikaras. “I was truly impressed by their marketing skills. They successfully sold all their products, and it made me happy to witness their entrepreneurial spirit,” he said. Expressing his enthusiasm for being in Kashmir, Dhawan said, “It is a wonderful experience. The weather is fantastic, and the sun is shining brightly.”
He highlighted the potential benefits of the Legends League for local youth. “This league can serve as an inspiration for the youth. It offers hope and motivation for aspiring cricketers. The players involved are legends who have excelled in their careers, and now they are playing here,” he said.
Dhawan noted the improvement of cricket infrastructure in the region, saying “With enhanced facilities, I am confident we will see talented players emerging from here. A positive mindset is crucial. Regardless of the city, passion and hard work are key components to success.”
He expressed eagerness about playing in Srinagar, saying, “I am looking forward to performing and entertaining the Kashmiri people.”
