Deepa wins discus gold as athletic meet concludes

KATHUA, Aug 7: Deepa Kumari of HSS Magloor won gold medal in discus throw, while Suman Lata of the same School bagged gold in javelin throw in the inter-school athletic meet, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, which concluded at Sports Stadium, here today.
Radhika Khajuria of HSS Chandwan and Neha Raina of HSS Bhaddu claimed the silver medals in these events respectively.
Kanchan Bala, Deputy Director (Central) Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest on the occasion, while Activity Incharge, Jaswant Singh was also present.
The meet, in which 49 players drawn from 9 institutions participated was held under the supervision of Sunil Kumar, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Kathua.
The gold medal winners in shot put, long jump, high jump and 100 meter sprint included Shami Devi of HSS Hatli, Anju Bala of HSS Keerian, Neha of HSS Bhaddu and Shavali Sharma of HSS Bhaddu respectively.
200, 400, 800 and 1500 mtrs gold went to Rittu Sharma of HSS Ramkot, Jyoti Metha of HSS Kethera, Jyoti Mehta and Noori of HSS Magloor respectively.
The meet was officiated by S Inderjeet Singh, Kewal Krishan, Kuldeep Singh, Ganesh Dutt and Mohan Lal.
