JAMMU, Mar 16: First Bharat Rattan Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee Open Cricket Tournament was inaugurated by Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta at Parade Ground, here today.
The opening match was played between Parade Cricket Club (Parade CC) and Brothers Cricket Club (Brother CC).
The Parade CC scored 146 runs by losing nine wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Ashish Thakur made highest 37 runs of 29 balls, whereas Rahul Dutt scored 30 runs of 25 balls and Pardeep Bali and Raman contributed 10 runs. From bowling side, Raman took three wickets.
In reply, the Brothers CC failed to chase the target and bundled out at 119 runs with loss of eight wickets in stipulated overs, thus lost the match by 27 runs. From bowling side, Jerry Mathew bagged three wickets, while Sunil claimed two wickets.
Rahul Dutt was declared as man of the match.
The tournament is being organised by Northern Cricket Club under the supervision of Ashwani Sharma, chairman of the Club.
