JAMMU, Oct 18: Twenty one days Coaching Camp for J&K climbers selected in the North Zone team for the forthcoming National Climbing Competition started at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in Sprawling Buds School campus here today.
Rajan Sharma, Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu of J&K State Sports Council inaugurated the camp. The 11 days Camp at Jammu being organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K will continue up to October 28, 2015.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included secretary and joint secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K Ram Khajuria and Shawetica Khajuria, Director of Sprawling Buds School Rahul Sharma, football coach Sat Pal Singh and Kabaddi coach Ajay Gupta.
In order to prepare the team to its full potential by exposing it to the international standard climbing infrastructure at IMF New Delhi the Association has planned to conduct the 21 days camp in two phases. Whereas the first coaching camp of 11 days duration is being conducted under the supervision of 2 national coaches, at Sprawling Buds School, Jammu from October 18 to October 28, 2015, the 2nd Camp for the remaining 10 days will be organized at Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi at the international standard 50ft high lead climbing wall and Speed climbing wall with star holds and an international standard bouldering Gym from November 16 to November 25, 2015, prior to the National Competition to be held at the same venue from November 27 to November 30, 2015.
It may be recalled that this year the J&K Sport Climbing team performed well at the North Zone Climbing competition and bagged 13 medals including two gold and six silver medals and 7 state climbers have been selected in the North Zone team for the forthcoming National Sport Climbing Competition to be held at IMF New Delhi.
