JAMMU, Sept 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circle is organizing Philately Exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi on the theme ‘My Life is My Message’ from October 1 to October 4, 2012 at Kala Kendra Jammu, here.
In this connection, Chief Postmaster General J&K, John Samuel flagged off ‘Philately Fun Run’ today morning from University of Jammu.
The atmosphere was festive with young school children in uniforms participating in the event.
Over one thousand school children took part in the run and in cool and refreshing morning breeze, the run passed through different routes and finally culminated at Balidan Stambh.
The major objective of this exhibition is to promote Gandhian values and teachings among people.
This is for the first time a Stamp Exhibition on Gandhiji is being organized in J&K.
This exhibition will showcase the rare and valuable stamps issued by India and other countries on Mahatma Gandhi, said John Samuel, Chief Post Master General, J&K while addressing the students.
The exhibition will be open for people, school and college students from 10 am to 6 p.m on all the four days.
Letter writing competition, Philately workshops, Debates, Lectures on Gandhian Values, Quiz contest for school and college students will be the part of four day long exhibition. The entry to the exhibition is free for all.
