Chess championship concludes at Budgam

Srinagar, Mar 10: A two-day Chess championship, organized by the All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA) at Oxford School, Budgam today culminated with a participation of around 30 players across district Budgam from all the categories.
President, All J&K Chess Association for Budgam Mushtaq Ahmad Malik told Excelsior that it was the third such championship that was organized by the Association in the district and was aimed at increasing the participation of the young players in the game of Chess.
At least five rounds were held in two days and at the end, seven positions holders were, declared by the organizers of the event. Among the winners was also a 6-year-old girl from Kanihama area of Budgam Khairul Nisa.
Winners who were announced included, Nadeem Hussian from Budgam bagged first position, Masroof Hussain from Farshgund, Batpora clinched 2nd position, Yasir Akbar from Kanihama, Batpora clinched 3rd position, Yasir Farooq Zargar from Soibugh secured 4th position, Syed Asrar Bukhari from Daharmuna Budgam won 5th position, Khairul Nisa (6-years-old) from Kanihama secured 6th position and Syed Basit from Daharmuna Budgam bagged 7th position.
The organizers of the event said that the championship was organized to get the attention of the youngster towards and game and make more and more youngsters take part in such events.
