Chander Dev emerges best boxer in District Boxing C’ship

JAMMU, Feb 26: Chander Dev Singh emerged best boxer, while Saksham Bhatia of BSF Senior Secondary School Jammu clinched gold in the Jammu District Boxing Championship, which concluded at Boxing Rink in MA Stadium, here today.
The Championship was declared open by Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, J B S Bali yesterday, while on the concluding function today, Narinder Gupta, Member J&K State Sports Council distributed prizes among the winners in presence of Dr Nirmolak Singh, Rajan Sharma, Anil Wadera, Tarun Sharma and Vinod Bhatia.
50 boxers drawn from across the district participated in the Championship.
Earlier, in the senior category, Sandeep Singh, Ankush Sharma, Vijay Kumar, Hardesh Singh, Rinku Kumar, Ricky Kumar and Prashast Sharma claimed gold medals in various weight categories, while in the sub-junior category, the gold medals went to Arif Wani, Manil Wadhera, Vishal Singh, Saksham Bhatia, Anil Kumar and Chander Dev Singh.
The bouts were officiated by Raj, Satpaul, Rohit and Nitin.
