Chandeep shines in National Para Swimming C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 30: Chandeep Singh brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory by winning first position in S-6 category of men section of 50 meters backstroke in recently held XX-National Para Swimming Championship 2020-21, held at Bengaluru from March 20-22.
Chandeep Singh also excelled in 100 meters backstroke in S-6 category by securing Silver medal.
It is pertinent to mention here that two years back, the swimmer met with then IGP Police and incumbent ADGP Crime M K Sinha and appealed to him for using Gazetted Officer Swimming Pool at Police Line Jammu. The then IGP allowed him for practice here and also deputed J&K Swimming coach Davender Sharma for providing specialised training. “After getting two years training as well as specialised training under J&K Police Swimming coach, he excelled in the championship and won Gold and Silver medals in S-6 categories,” said Chandeep Singh.
After winning these medals, he (Chandeep) thanked to incumbent IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, ADGP MK Sinha and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Chief Executive Officer, Romesh Kumar for encouraging him to participate in the national level championships.
Presently, he is doing Electrical Engineering from MBSCET Jammu and has been awarded with State Award for his outstanding performance in Taekwondo in K-41 category and a world record holder in Skating. Chandeep Singh won Silver medal in 8th Taekwondo World Championship held in Turkey and Gold medal in 4th Asain Para Open Taekwondo Championship (G4) held at Ho Chi (Vietnam) and many others.
