JAMMU, July 25: The newly posted District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu, Chanchal Kour inaugurated District Level Inter-School Tournaments in an impressive and well attended function, here today.
The Tournaments are being held in the the sports disciplines of Table Tennis, at Gulshan Ground, Net Ball at Dogra Ground, Tennis Ball Cricket and Super Seven Cricket at Green Fields, Gandhi Nagar, here.
In all, 430 boys drawn from the Government and Private Institutions of District Jammu are taking part in the competitions, which are being organized under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, Jammu and under the overall supervision of the District Officer herself.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Kour said that studies and sports are the two sides of the same coin, adding that it is equally important to participate in sports activities as to participate in academic activities.
She further said that sports and games serve for delight, for ornament and for agility.
In Net Ball Boys Under-19 years, Oriental Academy beat Ranvir HSS by 2 points, while
KC International School drubbed Lawrence Public School by 3 points.
In Chess Boys Under-19 years, Varinder Singh of KC Public School trounced Shivam of KC Gurukul; Ishan of MIER defeated Abhishek of Mother India; Anuj of DBN drubbed Ishant of HSS Kandoli Nagrota and Sahil of BSF Paloura outplayed Ujjwal of KC Gurukul.
In Kick Boxing Boys Under-19 years, -44 kg, Sidhart Dubey bagged gold, while Rakshit Khajuria claimed silver and in -60 Kg, Sehaj Kumar clinched gold, while Ankush Samyal won silver.
