Chanchal Kour declares open girls Inter-School competitions

JAMMU, Aug 3: District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu, Chanchal Kour declared open Inter-School District Level Tournament in the sports disciplines of Fencing (all age groups) and Taekwondo, Sqay Martal Art, Thang-Ta, Wushu and Rugby for Under-19 girls of District Jammu in an impressive and well attended function at MA Stadium Indoor Complex, here today.
In all, 103 girls drawn from Governmant and Private Institutions of district Jammu are taking part in the competitions. The competitions are being organized under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services & Sports and under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, Jammu, while Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu is the organizing Secretary of the competitions.
Speaking on the occasion, she stressed upon the girl student players to take part in the sports activities for the wholesome development of the personality, adding that studies and sports serve for delight, for ornament and for ability and agility.
The main objective of these competitions is to select the teams for District Jammu in the various sports disciplines for Inter-District Divisional Level competitions.
In Fencing (Sabre) Under-17 girls final, Kritarthi of MHAC Nagbani won gold, Malivi of KNIT bagged silver, while the bronze emdal went to Samreen of New Taj Public School and Aviza of Dewan Devi School.
In Fencing (Sabre) Under-14 girls final, Shreya Gupta of Convent clinched gold, while Ananya of GD Goenka bagged silver, while the bronze was shared by Sanchita of Dewan Devi  and Charvi of APS Akhnoor.
In Fencing (Sabre) Under-19 girls final, Sonali of APS Domana won gold, Rimya of APS Nagrota claimed silver, while Mahapara of Tiny Tots and Muskan of DPS got bronze.
The matches were officiated by Shefali Gupta, Ujjwal Gupta, Anthony Matoo, Abdul Quadir and Tonny Matoo.
In Wushu Under-19 girls final, Aditya of GGHSS Mubarak Mandi, Mehul of GGHSS Mubarak Mandi, Rupali of GGHSS Shastri Nagar, Atika of Jammu Sanskriti School, Muskan of Jammu Sanskriti School and Riya of Tiny Tots claimed gold medals in various weight categories.
Meanwhile, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Kathua, the Inter School District level tournaments witnessed the matches/trials of Chess and Badminton at DAV Collegiate Lachhipur, Swimming at Jandi Pond, Rugby and Wushu at Sports Stadium Kathua for Under-19 boys and girls here.
The tournaments are being organized under the overall supervision of DYSSO Kathua, Subash Chander Bhardwaj.
At DAV Lachhipur, Anurag of RSJN Kathua won the final match of Under-19 Chess by defeating Tikka Singh of GHSS (Boys) Kathua.
At Sports Stadium Kathua the trials of Rugby for Under-19 boys were held in which Murad Ali, Ashiq Ali, Gourav Sharma, Lakhvant Singh and Puneet Raina of GHSS Kathua were selected for forthcoming competitions.
In Wushu Under-19 boys, Akhil Salaria of GHSS Barwal, Vishal Sharma of GHSS Chakra, Ankush Singh of Manu Shiksha Kendra Rajbhag, Mohd Aslam of GHSS Hiranagar, Bagh Hussain of GHSS Marheen, Mohd. Billa of GHSS Marheen, Sanjay Sharma of GHSS Chakra, Sarabjeet Singh of DAV Kathua got gold in below 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 65, 70 and 75 kg weight categories respectively, while in above 75 kg,  Puneet Sharma of DAV stood first.
In Wushu Under-19 girls, Prity Jasrotia of GHSS Barwal, Priyanka Devi of GHSS Kirian and Ritika Devi of GHSS Kirian stand first in below 40, 44 and 48 kg weight categories respectively.
In Badminton Under-19 girls singles, Anupriya of Spring Dales Kathua trounced Manju Devi of GHSS Marheen by 2-0 sets, while in doubles, Manu Shiksha Kendra Rajbagh outplayed GHSS Hiranagar by 2-0 sets in the first semifinal and in second semifinal, Spring Dales Kathua defeated GHSS Kathua by 2-0 sets.
In the final, Isha and Meenu of Manu Shiksha Kendra Rajbagh won the match by defeating Mansi and Palvi of Spring Dales Kathua by 2-0 sets.
