JAMMU, Aug 7: District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Jammu, Chanchal Kour inaugurated the Inter-School District Level Tournament for Boys Under-19 years in the sports disciplines of Speedball, Thai Boxing, Belt Wrestling and Thang-sa-do for the year 2018-19 of District Jammu at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
In all, 120 boys drawn from 14 Zones of Jammu District are taking part in the Tournaments, which are being organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports under the patronage of Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director.
Speaking on the occasion, Chanchal Kour threw light on the importance of sports and games and motivated the participants to play with enthusiasm and sportsman spirit.
The main objective of the competitions is to select the teams of Jammu District for the higher level competitions.
In Speedball Under-19 boys Singles, Paramjeet Singh of SP Smart, Jammu bagged 1st position, Harsh Vivek of DCM and Mehran Sohail of DPS Jammu claimed 2nd and 3rd positions respectively, while in Speedball Under-19 boys Doubles, Parkash Singh and Amritansh of St Xavier won 1st place and Sahil and Vikas of May Fair HSS Jammu got 2nd place.
In Thai Boxing Under-19 boys below 48 Kg, Shubam of Govt HSS Marh won gold and Shanu of Santosh Vidya School claimed silver, while in below 51 Kg, Shubam of Tiny Tots Public School and Ritik of Trikuta Public School clinched gold and silver resepctively.
In below 54 Kg, Varun of BHMP School and Manik of Jammu Public School won gold and silver respectively, while in below 57 Kg, Rahul of Govt HSS Muthi and Mannat of SP Smart School bagged gold and silver resepctively.
In below 60 Kg, Vanshveer of Tiny Tots School won gold and Treshant of Govt HSS Muthi clinched silver, while in below 64 Kg, Arjun of Nand Public School, Muthi and Deep of Jammu Public School won gold and silver respectively.
In below 71 Kg, Abhishek of Govt HSS Jhiri and Shubham Hans of BHMP School claimed gold and silver respectively, while in below 75 Kg, Kannav of Govt HSS Muthi emerged winner and in below 81 Kg, Gourav Sharma of Shastri Memorial School won gold and Aryan of BHMP School clinched silver.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts of the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
