CEO Shrine Board reviews arrangements of NZ Santosh Trophy Football C’ship

KATRA, Jan 24: The arrangements for organising 6-day long North Zone Santosh Trophy Football Championship-2019 being held at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex at Katra were reviewed at a meeting held at the Spiritual Growth Centre, here today.
The meeting was chaired by Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDB).
The Championship, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association under the aegis of All India Football Federation in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and J&K State Sports Council, is scheduled to be held during February 11 to February 16, 2019.
In all, 8 teams namely Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and host Jammu and Kashmir will participate in the Championship.
Around 200 footballers and the officials are expected to participate in the Championship being organised for the first time at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex at Katra.
The arrangements which were reviewed for organising the championship, inter-alia, included ground and equipment facilities, boarding, lodging, transport, besides the opening and closing functions of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO urged upon all participants to delineate the responsibilities of Shrine Board and other organisers and all concerned should then focus on their roles. CEO assured Sports Council that the Board will extend full cooperation to make the event a success.
Among those who participated in the meeting included Dr Naseem Choudhary, Secretary J&K State Sports Council; Deepak Dubey, Deputy CEO of the Shrine Board; Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB; Zameer Thakur, President Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) and Treasurer All India Football Federation; Sheikh Mehmood, President, Jammu Wing of JKFA; Surinder Singh Bunty, Treasurer JKFA, Nazir Ahmad Bhat, Chairman, Referees Board JKFA, Fayaz Sofi, President, District Football Association, Srinagar and Abdul Majid Kakroo, former Captain of the Indian Football team.
