New Delhi, Jan 22:
The BCCI today “welcomed” the order of the Supreme Court related to the IPL spot-fixing case and said that they will hold the AGM in accordance with the directions and timelines as stipulated by the apex court.
“The BCCI welcomes the order of the Honorable Supreme Court, which has put to rest the uncertainty, that has prevailed in the recent past,” BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said in a statement.
“The BCCI will extend its unstinted cooperation to the three-member committee appointed by the Honorable Supreme Court,” he said.
“The Annual General Body meeting of the BCCI which also includes the election of the office bearers will be held in accordance with the directions and timelines as stipulated by the Honorable Supreme Court,” he said in the brief statement.
In its order, the Supreme Court barred BCCI’s sidelined President N Srinivasan from contesting any Board election on grounds of conflict of interest and set up a judges committee under a former Chief Justice of India to decide on the punishment in the IPL scam that can threaten the future of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
