JAMMU, Aug 28: Outplaying Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor by a narrow margin of 5 runs in summit clash, Baba Jitto Cricket Club won the title trophy of the Akhnoor Champions Cricket Tournament-2019, here.
16 teams from Akhnoor Tehsil and adjoining areas participated in this tournament.
Sham Lal Sharma, former Minister was the chief guest on the occasion, while Ajay Sharma, SDPO Akhnoor was the guest of honour and Depesh Singh, Chairman Municipal Committee Akhnoor was the special guest.
Sham Lal Sharma distributed trophies as well as cash prizes among the winners and runners-up tams, besides good performers of the tournament.
He advised the youth to involve themselves in games and sports to be away from drugs and other social evils.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Shilpa Mahajan, Raman Gupta, Raman Sharma, Rajinder Sharma, Kuldeep Kour, Deepak Mangotra, Deepak Sharma, Shiv Parkash, Amit Mahajan and a large gathering of spectators.
The Tournament was organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor under the overall supervision of Kr Sham Singh Langeh, President Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
Earlier, put into bat, Baba Jitto Cricket Club scored 85 runs in 12 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Varun top scored with 35 runs, while Sawan and Vijay contributed 13 runs each. From Singh Club, Mendis and Munna bagged 2 wickets each, while Amir claimed one wicket.
In reply, Singh Cricket Club managed to score 80 runs in 12 overs to lose the match by 5 runs. Sunil Govil (22) and Sahil (17) were the main scorers. For Baba Jitto CC, Varun took 3 wickets, while Happy and Raj shared 2 wickets each. Varun was declared as the man of the match, while Sunil Bendy was adjudged as the man of the series.
The match was officiated by officiated by Sumit Rajput and Sunil Ray as umpires, while Shubham Kumar was the scorer.
