Athletes show composure in Inter-School Tournaments across Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 14: Adhering SOPs and other allied COVID-19 guidelines, the players are sweating-it-out and showing composure and promise in the ongoing Zonal Level Inter-School (ISZL) tournaments which are in full swing in different Zones of various districts of Jammu province, here.
The tournaments are being held under the patronage of Gazanffar Ali, Director, YS&S J&K and under the overall supervision of Jitendra Mishra, Deputy Director YS&S. The District Officers are supervising the events in their respective districts.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports District Poonch organised an ISZL in the disciplines of Kho- Kho, Volleyball, Badminton, Chess, Carrom and Kabbadi in all age groups at Harni Zone in Mendhar. The matches are being supervised by ZPEO Harni, Mohd Basharat Khan. Principal HSS Harni Barkat Hussain was the chief guest in the inaugural function. A total of 165 athletes are taking part in the event.
As per the directions of DYSSO Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, the tournaments in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Yoga and Wrestling were held in Marh Zone of District Jammu under the overall supervision of ZEPO Marh, Anju Gupta. On the occasion, Principal GHSS Marh, Sarsa Ram was the chief guest. About 65 players took part in the event.
The DYSS Zone Jourian organised the competitions in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Yoga and Wrestling (boys & girls) at Government Girls High School Jourian under the supervision of ZEPO Jourian, Vijay Kumar. Headmaster of the hosting School, Satish Kumar was the special guest at the inaugural function.
The competitions in the discipline of Yoga, all age groups boys and girls and Wrestling boys were conducted by Bhalwal Zone at GHSS Bhalwal. The competitions were held under the supervision of ZEPO Bhalwal, Ravi Kumari.
As part of Annual Calendar of activities of District Ramban, the DYSS Zone Banihal today started the tournaments in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Kabaddi in the age groups of Under-14, 17 and 19 at GHSS Banihal under the overall supervision of DYSSO Ramban, Dharamvir Singh. A total of 138 players drawn from various Government and Private Schools took part in the event.
Under the overall supervision of DYSSO Kishtwar, Kharati Lal Sharma, the ZEPOs Padder, Inderwal and Drabshalla Zones organised the tournaments in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Cricket wherein Major Kailash Singh was the chief guest, while Principal GGHSS Kishtwar, Sunita Sharma was the guest of honour.
Meanwhile, Inter-Zone Taekwondo competitions of Zone Sathra were started at High School Sathra wherein 50 young budding boys and girls are taking part.
In-charge Headmaster Rajinder Kour was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony, whereas the competitions were held under the supervision of Kulwant Singh Incharge ZPEO Sathra.
In under 14 boys, Danish of HS Sathra, Zeeshan Ahmed of GMS Fatehpur, Nadeem Aslam of GMS Saikloo, Khalil Ahmed of MS Miran Khenu, Sarab Ahmed of HS Sathra, Yasir Hamid of GMS Chakra, Mohd Sohail and Mohd Shakeel HS Sathra won Gold medals, whereas Rehan Ahmed GMS Fatehpur, Shahid Mehmood of GMS Chakrar, Mohd Saleem of GMS Fatehpur, Mohd Naqeeb of GMS Fatehpur, Umar Abdullah of GMS Fatehpur, Sarab Khan of GMS Fatehpur, Mohd Afzal of HS Sathra and Bilal Ahmed of GMS Fatehpur secured Silver medals.
In under-14 &17 girls, Kashaf Kazmi and Nargis Fatima of HS Sathra, Nadeem Fatima of MS Miran Khenu, Amina Firdouse of GMS Trichal, Noreen Kazmi, Azra Fatima, Shazia Kouser and Rafia Kazmi of HS Sathra won Gold medals, whereas Isam Sabha of GMS Trichal and Ruksar Fatima of MS Miran Khenu clinched Silver medals, besides in under-17 boys, Mohd Rizwan, Nazakat Hussain and Zaffer Hussain of HS Sathra, Shoieb Akram and Shahab Rashid of GHSS Fatehpur won Gold medals, whereas Zahid Ahmed and Shahzad Sadeeq bagged Silver medals.
