ANANTNAG, May 22: Army today said a picnic combined with a treasure hunt was organised for Army Goodwill School Highground in Southern Anantnag district.
A Defence spokesman said over 100 beaming students accompanied by their teachers went on a trekking trail till Highground top searching for articles which were hidden along the trail. The excitement of the search and thrill and joy of finding the hidden goodies was all palpable, he said.
The spokesman said on their return to the school the winners were presented with prizes. “The day’s adventure culminated with the screening of movie ‘Jolly LLB 2’ at the Chinar 9 Jawan club which the children thoroughly enjoyed,” he added.
Meanwhile, Army said brimming with enthusiasm at the prospect of exploring the road less travelled 225 young children of Tyndale Biscoe School Srinagar set out to explore the picturesque foothills of the Mahadev Ridge in the Faqir Gujri Bowl.
“Pleasant fun and frolic was on display amid water splashing in the Dara Nala and helping each other over the steep slopes. An outdoor meal in the lap of nature at Darwain, was a dream come true for the kids. Being thoroughly exhausted at the culmination of the trek, their beaming faces aptly revealed their joy and elation.
“Such activities promise to go a long way in enticing youth towards adventure activities and channelise their energy and exuberance in the right direction,” the defence spokesman added.
