SRINAGAR, Mar 28: Army today said it organized an inter-village Volleyball competition at the banks of Madhumati stream at Sonarwain in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
A defence spokesman said the final of competitions was played between Sonarwain and Arampora in which Sonarwain team emerged as winner in a nail biting match on 27 Mar 2016.
The competition saw huge response as 14 local teams from villages of Bunakoot, Kralpora, Chakrishipora, Arampora, Pazalpora, Sonarwain and Pethakut participated in a keenly fought tournament, he said.
The spokesman said the event was attended by several Civil and Army officials who acknowledged the high standards of skill display shown by the teams.
The final match generated tremendous response as hundreds of supporters from all ages gathered to cheer their team. Overall, the programme generated a huge interest among youth to participate in such initiatives led by Chinar Corps, he added.
