JAMMU, July 25: A 3 km ‘Unity Run’ was organised by Indian Army for students of all schools of Rajouri to pay homage to the martyrs, evoke feeling of nationalism and patriotism and commemorate 20 years of Kargil War.
A large number of school children participated in the event. The event was attended by Army officials & civilian dignitaries including local populace of the area.
The event started with warming up Zumba Dance followed by flag off of the Run.
There were separate prizes for boys and girls category. First prize in boys and girls category was won by Parvaiz Musharif and Madhika respectively, while the second prize in boys and girls category was won by Saurabh Sharma and Mahi Sharma and third prize in boys and girls category were won by Amjid Khan and Weenaz Khan. The ‘Unity Run’ was a live example of Unity in Diversity and Indian Army did a commendable job to ignite the feeling of nationalism and patriotism amongst the children of Rajouri.
Apart from the children, Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, Jawans and their families also participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.
Such events not only help in promoting sports but also kindle the spirit of nationalism and unity amongst local populace.
The Ace of Spades Division of the Indian Army has been organising such events frequently to engage youth and children in meaningful constructive activities in Rajouri and adjoining areas which have been well appreciated by the public.
