POONCH, Nov 16: To encourage the children of Poonch and infuse in them a taste for fine arts, a Painting Competition as part of Talent Hunt under Operation Sadbhavana was organised by the Garhi Battalion, under the aegis of Poonch Brigade, today. The event saw widespread and enthusiastic participation from over 15 Schools and a total of 580 children of different age groups participated in the competition. The event was conducted at the Krishan Chander Park, in the heart of Poonch Town.
Col Vikas Lakhera, Sena Medal, Deputy Commander, Poonch Brigade gave away the prizes to the talented participants. Ms Zoya Praveen of Jamia Zia of Ul- Uloom School (Deptt of H/S Poonch) won the first prize in below 8 years category, while Master Ahmed Mirof Christ School stood first in the 8-14 years of age category. Shajia Choudhary of Christ School emerged first in the 14 to 20 years category and Ms Deepakshi Sanotrawas adjudged first in the open category.
Various themes of the Painting Competition evoke patriotism on one hand and love for nature on the other. The occasion was graced by Professor N Khajuria, Padamshree, Professor Jagbir Singh, Kewal Kapoor, KD Maini and other eminent citizens of Poonch.
Indian Army was seen encouraging the Youth in opening up their horizons of dreams and standing by the cause of becoming responsible citizens of the Nation. Organising such sporting events highlights the importance of competitive and team spirit and builds a lasting bond of trust between the Army and the people,” the organisers said.
