Aquib stars as J&K defeats MP by 13 runs

JAMMU, Dec 8: Jammu & Kashmir registered a thrilling 13-run victory over Madhya Pradesh in their last league match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, powered by an all-round performance from Aquib Nabi. Despite the win, J&K could not advance to the knockout stage due to net run-rate.
Batting first, J&K posted 150/9 in 20 overs, with Aquib Nabi top-scoring 32 off 21 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes. Abdul Samad contributed 27 runs, Yudhvir Singh 18 off 12 balls, while Shubham Khajuria and Lone Nasir Muzaffar added 14 runs each.
In reply, Madhya Pradesh managed 137 runs, with Tripuresh Singh taking 3 wickets and Mohd Arshad Khan and Shivam Shukla claiming 2 each. Aquib Nabi also led the bowling attack, capturing 3 crucial wickets for 19 runs, while Sunil Kumar, Yudhvir Singh and Lone Nasir Muzaffar contributed with key dismissals.
Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration JKCA, praised the team’s fighting spirit, crediting the bowlers and fielding for defending the total successfully, calling it a proud moment for J&K cricket lovers.
