REASI, Sept 19: Amit Singh bagged Under-14 boys sabre gold in the Divisional Level Inter- District Tournament in Fencing (Boys and Girls), under the age group of U-14, 17 and 19 years, which got underway at Garden Estate Hall, here today.
The silver and bronze medals in this category went to Kunal, Jeevan and Nikhil respectively.
Earlier, the Tournament was inaugurated by Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, District Development Commissioner Reasi as the chief guest in an impressive, well attended and colourful function, while Syed Nadeem Hussain, Divisional Forest Officer Reasi was the guest of honour.
151 fencers including 89 boys and 62 girls drawn from various districts of Jammu Province participated in this sporting extravaganza to vie for the top honours.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary while lavishing praise on the organizers, put forth his resolution for the development of sports infrastructure including indoor and outdoor facilities for budding fencers, adding that the practical shape to these projects will be given soon.

Dr Swaran Singh Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi, under whose overall supervision the Tournament is being held, in his welcome address gave brief report of the activities and achievements of the District.
Fencing coach, Shottu Lal was the observer of the Tournament.
S M Tharmatt, Lecturer in Physical Education, Government HSS Katra presented vote of thanks.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ashok Kumar, Physical Education Master, Govt HS Dadoa, Reasi.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts including Ujjwal Gupta, Ajay Kumar, Shefali Gupta, Abdul Qadir, Tony Mattoo and Anthony Mattoo.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Jarpal Singh, DYSS Officer Samba, Mohan Singh, S Gurvinder Singh, Kuldeep Gupta, general secy JKAKA, Jagdish Raj and M M Khajuria.
