JAMMU, May 16: Akhnoor zone won the under-14 boys’ Volleyball and Kho-Kho titles in the two-day inter-zone district level competitions held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at different venues, here today.
Wrestling boys’ competition in under-17 category also took place at Bajrangi Akhara, Shalamar, here to select the winners of each weight category for the upcoming Divisional level event.
The Cricket event was still at the preliminary stage in both under-14 and under-17 categories while finals in other team event of Kabaddi also took place at MA Stadium, here.
VOLLEYBALL: The under-14 boys Volleyball title went to Akhnoor, who beat Bhalwal Zone in straight 2-0 sets at Boys High School Jammu Cantonment. Semifinals: Zone Akhnoor beat zone Jourian 2-0 and Bhalwal beat zone Chowki by Choura 2-0. The under-17 title was bagged by Dansal, who beat Akhnoor zone 2-0. Semifinals: Akhnoor zone was bt Marh by 2-0; Dansal bt Zone Arnia by 2-0.
KHO-KHO: Akhnoor Zone outplayed Miran Sahib by a margin of two points in the final of under-14 Kho-Kho at Boys High School Jammu Cantonment. Earlier, in the semifinals, Miran Sahib trounced Marh by five points while Akhnoor zone defeated Bhalwal zone by four points. Similarly, in under-17 category, Marh beat Akhnoor by four points. Semifinals: Akhnoor bt Bhalwal by four points; Marh bt Jammu zone by one inning and six points.
KABADDI: In Kabaddi under-14 age group, Khour zone emerged winner beating Miran Sahib in the final played at MA Stadium. Semifinals: Miran Sahib beat Zone Satwari by seven points; Khour beat Akhnoor by five points. Meanwhile, in Kabaddi under-17 category, Jammu outplayed Arnia zone making it a 21 points win. Semifinals: Arnia bt Dansal by nine points; Jammu bt Miran Sahib by 20 points.
WRESTLING: Under-17: 45 Kg: Ankush Manhas of zone Akhnoor, 1st. 48 Kg: Maksood Ahmed of zone Bhalwal, 1st. 51 Kg: Sunil Singh of Zone Bhalwal, 1st. 55 Kg: Gafoor Ahmed of zone Bhalwal, 1st. 60 Kg: Vipan Kaith of zone Marh, 1st. 65 Kg: Rashid Ali of Zone Akhnoor, 1st. 71 Kg: Anshu Chib of Zone RS Pura, 1st. 80 Kg: Ansh Joshi of zone Satwari, 1st. 92 Kg and and Vansh Singh of Zone Bhalwal, Ist.
CRICKET:Under-14: Dansal zone registered a fine 38 runs victory against Arnia zone at MHAC School Nagbani. Meanwhile, in under-17 category, Dansal beat Chowki Choura by 49 runs and Marh trounced Jourian zone by 14 runs at Parade Ground.
