JAMMU, June 14: To give fillip to the sports discipline of wrestling in rural areas and provide sufficient infrastructure to the budding wrestlers, the Village Panchayat Domana has developed an ‘Akhara’, which was inaugurated by Dushyant Sharma, former president Wrestling Federation of India and general secretary J&K Wrestling Association in a well attended function, here today.
Raj Hussain, Naib Sarpanch has donated his personal land for construction of Akhara near Mir Shah Peer Baba in Domana.
Aijaz Kesar, Block Development Officer, Kot Bhalwal, was the guest of honour on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Dushyant appreciated the role of wrestlers and assured the organizers of providing wrestling mats for promotion of this sports discipline in the area.
BDO Kot Bhalwal also assured the organizers of providing funds for construction of bathrooms for the Akhara.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Shamsher Singh, Sarpanch, Raj Hussain, Naib Sarpanch, Bodh Raj, Subhash Chander and Pahalwans including Krishan, Sain Pandi, Chodhary, Billu, Om Parkash, Ramesh and Billa.
