J&K holds Delhi to 1-1 draw; Chandigarh outplays UP

JAMMU, Feb 10: Jammu and Kashmir held Delhi to (1-1) goal draw, while Chandigarh defeated Uttar Pradesh by two goals to one (2-1) in the ongoing 70th National Football Championship North Zone Santosh Trophy, being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council, under the auspices of All India Football    Federation at GGM Science College Football ground, here.
In the first match played today, Chandigarh defeated Uttar Pradesh by two goals to one (2-1) in a close contest. The goals were scored by Navdeep Singh and Neeraj Anand in 35th and 46th minutes for Chandigarh, while for Uttar Pradesh, the lone goal was scored by Vivek Singh in 68th minute.
Yellow card was shown to Srikant Kanauja of UP in 84th minute and Akshay Shekhar of Chandigarh in 87th minute.
In another match played today, strong J&K held formidable Delhi to draw. The goal for Delhi was scored by Vikas Rawat in 53rd minute, while for J&K, Gautam Mehra netted the goal in 61st minute.
Yellow card was shown to Kamal Singh and Abhishek Rawat of Delhi in 17th and 61st minutes, while Gautam Mehra, Farooq Choudhary and Mohd Hanief of J&K were shown yellow card in 62nd, 63rd and 73rd minutes respectively.
The matches were officiated by Uttam Sarkar, Bugai Soren, Deepu Roy, Nasirruddin, Tejas Nagvenicar, Imran Sheikh, Akash Jackson and Parmanand Mandnekar
In tomorrow’s fixture, Himachal Pradesh will meet Uttarakhand at 10 am, while Punjab will take on Haryana at 2 pm.
Javaid Ahmed Shah, Secretary J&K Sports Council was the chief guest in today’s proceedings, while Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary Sports Council, Deepak Kumar, General  Secretary, Himachal Pradesh, Sheikh Mehmood and Zamir Thakur were prominent among others present on the occasion.
