U-17 Football Tournament: Kathua, Kupwara, Baramulla register wins

JAMMU, Apr 27: The Inter-District UT Level U-17 Football Tournament, titled ‘The Leagues of Classic,’ continued with great enthusiasm at Khel Gaon Nagrota, Jammu. Organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu, the tournament has attracted participation from all districts of the Union Territory, with around 300 young players showcasing their talent.
Despite the hot and humid weather conditions, the event is being conducted smoothly under the supervision of a dedicated technical committee led by convenor Rohit Gupta, along with members Taranpal Singh, Varinder Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Naveen Singh, Devinder Singh and Somander Singh.
To ensure the conduct of tournament, various committees including Technical, Organising, Medical, Registration and Ceremony, Transport, Boarding and Lodging, Finance and Equipment have been constituted. Officials from participating districts are also actively assisting and supporting the players throughout the competition.
In today’s matches, District Kathua registered a dominant 8-0 victory over District Ramban, with Natik Kumar emerging as the top scorer by netting four goals. In the second match, District Kupwara defeated District Pulwama by 4-0, with Imad Malik scoring the opening goal. Baramulla secured an impressive 8-2 win against Budgam in the third match, where Umer Farooq and Haroon Rashut scored two goals each. In the fourth match, District Bandipora outplayed District Reasi with a 4-0 scoreline. In the final match of the day, District Ganderbal defeated Samba 5-2.
