KARGIL, July 3: Zanskar Inter-School Tournament concluded at Sports Stadium Padum, Zanskar here today. The chief guest on the occasion was Talib Hussain, Incharge Tehsildar of Zanskar.
Boys and Girls under various categories of U-14, U-17 and U-19 participated in the tournament. Students took part in different games such as Volleyball, Handball and a short marathon of 5 kms.
The winning trophy of U-19 in volleyball, football and handball lifted by High Secondary School Padum, Higher Secondary School Phay stood as runner up in all these games. In the tournament 17 schools, 2 High Secondary School, 7 High School and 8 Middle Schools participated. During the opening ceremony, Tsetan Konchok, the Zonal Education Officer of Zanskar was the chief guest.
The chief guest encouraged the students to participate in all sports events and avoid bad habits. He also congratulated the winning and runner-up teams from various schools and assured the audience that he would address the need for necessary sports equipment with higher authorities to help students enhance their sports skills in the future. Trophies and certificates were distributed among the participants by the chief guest.
