Yash Khajuria named new captain of Media-XI CC, Sunil as vice-captain

Jammu, July 16: Yash Khajura has been unanimously named the new captain of Media-XI Cricket Club Jammu, whereas senior player Sunil Bali has been elected as vice captain by majority of the registered players during an election held at Press Club, here today.
After a gap of more than five years, the elections were held for the posts of captain, vice captain, executive committee of the Team in which registered members exercised their vote to elect a new body of the Media-XI Cricket Club.
Varun Sharma was the Presiding Officer for the election, who later declared the result in presence of all the registered players and announced Yash Khajuria and Sunil Bali as the winners for respective posts. He also presented a bouquet to the winning pair and expressed that the duo shall work for the welfare of the team.
Following the procedure of the elections, each member had two votes to elect captain and vice captain. Yash Khajuria secured all the votes for the post of captain, whereas Sunil Bali secured seven out of eight votes for the post of vice captain.
Faheem Tak, Sunil Thappa, Pardeep Singh Bali, Rahul Khatri, Imran Mir, Ashu Mehra and Dev Thakur were unanimously elected as executive committee members.
Later, Captain Yash Khajuria with the consent of the newly elected body and team members of Media-XI Cricket Club nominated Sachin Singh as Team Manager, Ajay Raina as Coordinator, Mukesh as team Coach and Advocate Altaf Hussain Janjua as Legal Advisor of the team for the session 2022-23.
Speaking on the occasion, newly elected captain Yash Khajuria said that it would be challenging to head a team composed of senior media personnel. He assured that he will do whatever possible in his capacity for the betterment and unity of the team.
“My aim shall be to keep the momentum going, which has been maintained by successive captains over the years,” said Yash Khajuria, adding that support of all the team members shall be highly obliged.
The newly elected body expressed gratitude to the managing committee of Press Club Jammu for providing a meeting hall for the election proceedings.
