In an impressive ceremony inside the Institute, Gen Y S Mahiwal, SM, YSM, Commandant, HAWS, Gulmarg gave away the prizes to the winners of different skiing events during the Course.
In this course majority of the students were from Srinagar recruited through Delhi Public School, Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Gen Mahiwal said Kashmir has immense potential for adventure tourism and once the local youth are trained to conduct such activity, it will generate huge employment for them.
J S Dhillon, Principal, IISM welcomed the chief guest and said that he is leaving no stone unturned to promote adventure spirit amongst the youth of Valley. He said some local youth trained by the Institute have been selected in the Indian team which is participating in international skiing events at South Korea under Instructor Sandy Rigzin.
“The demand for Institute courses has increased so much that either we need to enhance the capacity of IISM or there is a need to open more such Institutes in the State,” Dillon added.
Students were very happy on the excellent standard of administration and training. Mansi Bhargava, staff member of IIM Lucknow said that they were provided the best equipment and best food in a homely atmosphere of centrally heated Institute building.
The next course will begin on January 21, 2013.
