5th UT MTB Cycling C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Nov 16: The Cycling Association of Jammu & Kashmir organized the 5th UT MTB Cycling Championship at MA Stadium, Jammu, witnessing enthusiastic participation from over 60 cyclists across the Union Territory. The championship showcased competitive spirit and exceptional performances across various categories.
In the MTB Under-14 Boys category, Malik Zehran Farooq (Budgam) claimed first place, followed by Muqeet (Budgam) and Vivaan Jandial (Jammu). Mohammad Adeel Bhat (Srinagar) topped the Under-16 Boys event, with Aryan Verma (Samba) and Arvindhan Ravi (Udhampur) securing second and third positions. MTB Under-19 Boys saw Mohammad Thahir Mir (Budgam) in first place, Anurag Kapoor (Jammu) second and Shahid Mustaq (Baramulla) third. In MTB Men Elite, Waheed Ahmad Ganie (Budgam) emerged victorious, Adnan Bashir (Baramulla) was second and Anish Dubey (Jammu) third. The MTB Women Elite category was dominated by Utfat Mustaq (Baramulla) and Mehak Mustaq (Baramulla), who finished first and second respectively.
Dr. Tarun Singh, General Secretary of J&K Hockey Association, was the chief guest, while other dignitaries included Ravinder Singh, Chairman Cycling Association, Dr. Arvind Singh, Amn President, Om Prakash, General Secretary, Dr. Vikesh Kumar, Commissioner CFI and Balvinder Singh, Vice President.
Ravinder Singh urged young cyclists to embrace clean, dope-free sports, emphasizing integrity as the foundation of athletic excellence. Dr. Vikesh Kumar highlighted the importance of scientific training, biomechanics, kin anthropometry and nutrition in peak performance. The event concluded with prize distribution and appreciation for coaches, officials, and volunteers.
