POONCH, Oct 16: 4th Kyrougi and 1st Poomsae Poonch District Taekwondo Championship, organised by District Taekwondo Association under the aegis of J&K Taekwondo Association, supported by J&K Sports Council, commenced at Council’s Indoor Sports Hall, here today.
About 250 players are taking part in the mega event.
The event was declared open by Commander 93 Infantry Brigade in presence of the dignitaries wherein Prem Parkash Luthra senior vice president PDTA was guest of honour while Nirdosh Kumar, In-charge Manager Sports Stadium Poonch, Prof Fateh Mohd Abassi, Advocate Sanjay Raina, renowned businessman and social worker Dheeraj Raina, Amarjeet Singh ZPEO and Nischal Sudan were special guests.
Later, Rajinder Singh, coach from DYSS highlighted the achievements of players, besides a few demonstrations of Taekwondo were also presented during the inaugural ceremony.
Furkhan Bandey, Adil Majid, Mohd Adrees, Rananjay Gupta, Mohd Arhan Qureshi, Navdeep Singh, Garvin Gupta, Aariz Hasnain, Athrav Dutta, Mohd Yaseen and Manmeet Singh clinched Gold medals, whereas Arsheet Singh, Takshdeep Singh, Ahmed Mukhtar, Faizan Bandey, Pushpender Singh, Prabjot Singh, Jasha Preet Singh, Sparsh Sharma, Abdul Basit and Mohd Asad secured Silver medals.
