POONCH, Sept 30 : In an endeavour to motivate the students residing near Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch District, 34 Bn BSF under OP CPG programme distributed sports kits among the students of various schools in a function organized at village Gohlad in Sabra Gali, here today.
Commandant 34 BSF, PK Anand was the chief guest on the occasion, while Sarpanch Nazir Hussain presided over the function.
The sports items including Track suits, cricket kits, volleyball kits, footballs, carrom boards, ludo, skipping ropes, badminton rackets and shuttles were presented to the schools as a step towards motivating them to take up sports as a career and strengthen the nation.
Speaking on the occasion Commandant 34 Bn BSF, P K Anand said the motive behind the distribution of kits among the students residing near LoC was to encourage the students to take part in sports activities which improve physical and mental fitness and also inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship among them”. He appealed the students to take active part in sports activities. He also counseled children to be innovative and progressive in their approach to make themselves successful, hence, leading the nation and school to the zenith.
Students and villagers expressed their gratitude to the BSF for the good will gesture and thanked the BSF for the same. Nazir Hussain , Sarpanch of Village Gahlod, in his address lauded the role of BSF in encouraging the students and youths of this border belt towards constructive activities and channelizing their energy in a positive direction.
Dy. Commandant Anil Chouhan and Faiz Mohammed prominent villager also spoke on the occasion.
