SRINAGAR, Aug 29: The 2nd Edition of the CRPF Football Cup 2025 commenced with much enthusiasm at the Synthetic Football Turf, TRC Srinagar, organized by Srinagar Sector CRPF under the Civic Action Programme, in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.
The tournament was inaugurated by Pawan Kumar Sharma, IG Srinagar Sector, in the presence of Nuzhut Gul (Secretary, J&K Sports Council), Dinesh Singh (DIG Operations), HS Kales (DIG P&A), Vivek Bhandral (DIG Group Centre Srinagar) and other senior officers.
Held on National Sports Day, the championship features U-23 teams from Srinagar (8), Budgam (4) and Ganderbal (4) in a knockout format, culminating on September 4, 2025.
The opening match saw Hamdania FC edge out Star Academy Budgam by 4-3, with goals from Suhail (2), Manan (1), and Mehran (1). Arif Mehraj scored a hat-trick for Star Academy. A cash prize up to Rs 5,000 was awarded to Players of the Match.
