SRINAGAR, Nov 5: The 22nd Senior National Soft Tennis Championship, being organized by the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association under the supervision of the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India (ASTFI) and supported by the J&K Sports Council, entered its final stage on the 5th day of the tournament today.
In the men’s singles individual category, the first semi-final was played between Jay of Madhya Pradesh and Vansh of Gujarat, in which Jay emerged victorious. In the second semi-final, Aryan of Chandigarh defeated Abhishek of Madhya Pradesh, earning a place in the final clash. In the title match, Jay (MP) continued his dominance, outclassing Aryan (CHG) to clinch the men’s singles title.
In the women’s singles section, Yazhini of Tamil Nadu defeated Ragasri, also from Tamil Nadu, in the first semi-final. The second semi-final saw Adiya of Madhya Pradesh beat Tanushri of Uttar Pradesh, setting up a final against Yazhini. In the championship round, Yazhini showcased top form and outplayed Adiya of MP, lifting the women’s singles title.
Pertinently, the ongoing championship features the participation of over 500 players, both men and women, who are competing in singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team events. The tournament was inaugurated on November 1 at SKISC and is scheduled to conclude on November 6 at the same venue.
