JAMMU, Mar 2: Young Rovers Football Club defeated Param Football Club by one goal to nil (1-0) in the summit Clash and lifted the title trophy of the Inter-District Football Championship, organized by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at parade Ground, here today.
SS Deswal, Additional Director General, Sashastra Seema Bal, Force Hqrs, New Delhi was the chief guest on the closing ceremony, while prominent among others who accompanied the chief guest were Ashok Kumar Singh, IGP SSB; RK Bhumbla, DIG Srinagar; Manvendra Negi, DIG Jammu; PS Bhist, Assistant Sports, Force Hqrs; NS Negi, SB Chand and VS Jamwal.
Earlier, the chief was introduced with the players, coaches and managers of both the teams.
The winners were presented a cash prize of Rs 60,000 and a trophy by the chief guest, while the runners-up team was awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 40, 000.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Deswal informed that SSB was acting as a facilitator to promote football in the region and attract more and more youth towards this game.
He said the aim of organizing football tournament across various districts of J&K was to reach out to the communities, encourage peoples participation, besides sharpening the sporting skills and techniques of the footballers.
AK Singh, who accompanied the chief guest on the occasion said that SSB Have also carried out various types of Civic Action Programmes in Kashmir Valley during the last three years.
It is pertinent to mention here that SSB had earlier conducted football tournament in the districts of Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi and Ramban and the winners at the district level participated in this mega Inter-District event at Parade Ground, Jammu.
The tournaments were declared open by SDS Jamwal, igp Jammu; Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner Samba; Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Kathua; Mohan Lal, SSP Ramban and Neeraj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur in the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Ramban and Reasi respectively.
