JAMMU, Aug 10: The maiden 3-day long Model United Nations (MUN) Conference 2018 hosted by KC Public School got underway at KC Sports Club Hall, here today.
137 delegates from various prestigious schools of Jammu are taking part in the Conference.
The event also marks the completion of 20 meritorious years of KC Public School as a premier educational institution in the service of the community.
MUN Conference is going to be a regular annual event at the school in the coming years.
The delegates attending the Conference have either been sponsored by their own schools or are attending it individually. Model United Nations is immensely popular among the youth of the world today and serves as an effective tool of learning and awareness about a wide range of political, social, economic and cultural issues facing the present-day world.
KC Public School being the only school from J&K as a global member of world-wide Round Square forum lays utmost stress on the ideal of internationalism and intends to involve its own students as well as the students of other schools in Jammu to make MUN as an effective tool of shaping them into ideal global citizens.
The Conference was inaugurated by Devendra Singh Rana, Provincial President of J&K National Conference as the chief guest.
The chief guest was accompanied by Arti Chowdhary, Managing Director of KCPS, Arjun Chowdhary, Managing Director, KC Sports Club and AK Mishra, Principal, KC Public School.
In his inaugural speech, Rana underlined the importance of UNO and its various organs rendering yeoman’s services in maintaining peace in the world and finding effective solutions to global problems.
While appreciating KCPS in hosting the prestigious event, he wished the delegates great success in their deliberations spread over three days of the Conference.
The MUN Conference is totally student-led and is being organized and supervised by a Committee of 16 students with Amogh Bansal as Secretary General, Sahar Rohmetra as Director General and Raghav Sharma as Organizing Head.
The UN SC is being headed by Amogh Bansal and Sparsh Bhat, UNHRC by Sahar Rohmetra and Osheen Mahajan, AIPPM by Avril Attri and Karan Dhar and IP by Sarthak Gupta.
