Gourav’s 64 goes in vain as Raman, Hardeep contribute to Simula Club’s win in CM’s Cup

JAMMU, Mar 26: Gourav Khajuria’s magnificent 64 runs went in vain as Hardeep Singh and Raman Dutta took Simula Cricket Club home against UCC Udhampur to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing 1st State Level 50-Over Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council in collaboration Country Cricket Academy at Gharota, near here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, UCC Udhampur after disastrous start managed to score 167 runs in 44 overs, courtesy- brilliant innings of 64 runs by Gourav Khajuria. Rajat was the only other batsman to cross double figure mark, who contributed 12 runs. For Simula, Raman Dutta took 4 wickets, while Sahil Sharma bagged 3. Shashi and Kuldeep claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Simula chased the target and sealed berth in the semifinals. Hardeep Singh top scored with 39 runs, while Anshuman Sharma and Mohit Puri contributed 23 runs each. Promising youngster Yuvraj Saini scored brilliant 20 runs, while Shashi Kumar contributed 18 runs to the total. Atul Sharma and Raman Dutta chipped in with 11 runs each. For UCC, Nirbhay took 2 wickets, while Avish, Anshuman, Ritik and Raman took 1 wicket each.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Madan.
Simula Cricket club will now face the winners of the quarterfinals between Sports Council XI and Zabarwan Cricket Club Nishat, Srinagar to be held on March 28, 2017.
