District Games for disabled organized at Samba

JAMMU, Jan 18: Special Olympics Bharat J&K Chapter organized three days district games for disabled at Samba with the sole motive to explore their hidden talent through the medium of sports under MYAS in collaboration with SAI, Paralympics and association of deaf.
Sr. Superintendent of Police, Samba, Joginder Singh was the chief guest who inaugurated the event.
In his address he said that Special Olympics is the only platform to glorify the lives of persons with disabilities and we all must strengthen this wonderful movement to provide opportunities they are deprived off.
During the valedictory function, District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, presented medals and certificates of participation to the special athletes.
About 243 special athletes and 56 coaches participated.
District Development Commissioner in her address said that this mission of Special Olympics Bharat will revolutionize the society one day as the persons with disabilities possess great potential which needs to be explored through such missionary initiatives of Special Olympics Bharat.
“I appreciate the tireless efforts of SOB J&K for carrying this movement to every corner of the State of Jammu and Kashmir,” Mrs Nanda expressed.
The dignitaries who also addressed during the functions were Chief Education Officer/Chairman SSA, O.P Bhagat, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Hqrs. Samba, Virender Singh, Social Welfare Officer, Mustaq Ahmed, District Sports Officer, Sunil Kumar, Principal Arvind Koul, Vijay Slathia Zonal Physical Education Officer and Zonal Education Officer, Veena Tickoo.
Cultural programmes by renowned TV and Radio artists namely Mahesh Koul, Suraj Sharma, Rajinder Kishore and Avtar Kour entertained the audience.
