SRINAGAR, June 6: To boost the sporting talent in the far flung areas of the Gurez Valley, Army organized a Volleyball Tournament at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Dawar wherein four teams from Wampora, Markoot, Mastan and Dawar participated in the league matches.
An Army spokesman said that the final match was played with extraordinary vigor and great sporting skills between the teams of Dawar and Markoot today which was eventually won by Team Markoot. The winners and runners up were suitably rewarded with trophies and medals.
He said this tournament was organized to tap the immense talent of the youth of Gurez Valley and to encourage the talented sportsmen to pursue their dreams in the field of sports and bring laurels to their families and the country.
