Army organizes Kho-Kho competition for girls

RAMBAN, Mar 5:   As part of Army’s multidimensional efforts in empowering the students of Jammu & Kashmir, especially girl students, Indian Army took yet another step to bring smiles on the faces of students studying in Government Schools of Nachlana and adjoining areas by conducting Inter School Kho-Kho competition for girl students at Govt High School, Nachlana, here.
The aim of the tournament was to encourage sports amongst the girl students and identify budding sports talent in the area. The competition was held for one day at Govt High School Nachlana, where a total of 12 teams from adjoining Govt Schools participated. The competition was held on a knock-out basis. The final match was played between Govt High School, Khari and Govt High School, Nachlana. The match was won by Govt High School, Khari. The final match was followed by prize distribution ceremony.
Zonal Education Officer, Tehsildar, Khari and Principals of the various schools were present on the occasion and presented awards to the winner and runner-up teams.
The competition was a huge success in terms of unearthing the talent of girl students from remote areas and channelizing their energy in the constructive field of sports and providing them with a platform to showcase their sporting talent.
All the schools, teams and local populace expressed their gratitude to the Army for the conduct of the Inter-School Kho-Kho competition for girl students and promised to build upon the initiative taken by the Army.
